GroupMe Support

When you first start Group Me, you need to login to your facebook account. This is so that the Group Me App can download the names and pictures of your facebook friends. At the same time, the App will register your iPhone or iPod Touch with our notification server so you can send and receive messages with other facebook friends who also have Group Me.

Just scroll to the name of the facebook friend you wish to send a message to and tap their name. This will bring up the messages screen. Tap the speech bubble at the top of the screen and the keyboard will appear. You can type your message and then press send.

When a message has successfully been sent yo will see a little tick briefly appear in the top right hand corner of the message.

Group Me needs your iPhone or iPod Touch to be connected to the internet to send and receive messages. Sometimes iPhones lose their internet connectivity when on 3G or other phone networks. If messages do not look like they are being sent, check whether your phone is connected to the internet by trying to open a webpage in safari.

Yes. Group Me uses apple’s Push Messaging system so that push messages are sent to your iPhone or iPod Touch even if you do not have the App open at the time. (Note that Apple’s Push Messaging system is not 100% reliable but messages you didn’t receive via push messaging will be loaded once you open the App).

Emoji is the Japanese keyboard which contains the cute characters (smiley faces etc). Group Me will enable this keyboard on your phone when you finish installing Group Me for the first time. You then need to switch on this keyboard in your iPhone or iPod Touch settings. From the home screen go to Settings > General > Keyboard > International Keyboards > Japanese and then switch on emoji. When typing a message you can get to the emoji keyboard by pressing the key with a symbol of a globe on it.
